Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024: Dennis and I visited the Zimmerman House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in Manchester, New Hampshire. It seemed like a very comfortable place to live. We also saw the Currier Museum.

Ashley McEastman (Ash to her friends) was expecting to spend a nice, quiet Christmas at home with her dad. She wasn’t expecting him to be kidnapped by the head of the Partridge crime family or for two human-sized birds to be her only hope in rescuing him. Now in order to save their new human friend’s dad as well as their mother, birdy boys Currier and Ives must face off against assassins for hires such as the Three French Hens, Marcy and her Maids’A Milkin’, Five Golden Rings and duplicating dancing sister, and more! It’s a festive fight to the finish in this radically ridiculous yuletide adventure! Coming to cinemas Christmas 1993, it’s the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Doves!  It’s also a poster that took me so much longer to make than expected! Ask anybody who’s been on the same Discord server as me and they’ll tell you how difficult this was for me despite the simple concept. Starting life in 2019, the idea for this poster was to wear this parody’s influences on its sleeves. If Eastman and Laird came up with the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comics by reading the then-popular works of Frank Miller, then my faux movie poster would also take a page from Miller’s book, or at least its cover. The Dark Knight Returns served as the basis for this poster, Currier and Ives copying Batman as he perched atop a wire in waiting. Naturally the wire was made into Christmas lights for the occasion, giving me the challenge of trying to light the birds. Even now I’m just barely sure I succeeded, but that’s not what tripped me up for so long. No, that would be the background. For a while it was just a boring gradient that left something to be desired. If you’re curious, you can check out the original poster on my tumblr account! Fast forward a year and finally the key to fixing it hit me: the story’s set in New York, so include New York! Hence why you get the darkened buildings in the background, along with some shaded out snow. Admittedly I may have overdone it with the snow, but otherwise I’m happy with the end result and I hope you all are too. Now the question is: should I write a theme song for these two?

Lucy Ellen Hayward Barker (1872-1948) pintora estadounidense.

Nacido en Portage Lake, Maine, Barker asistió a la Academia St. John en Presque Isle, antes de pasar dos años en St. Catherine's Hall, una escuela episcopal en Augusta.

Luego estudió en la Escuela del Museo de Bellas Artes de Boston; sus instructores incluyeron a Frank Weston Benson, Alger V. Currier, Philip Leslie Hale y Edmund Charles Tarbell.

Asociada con los impresionistas americanos, mantuvo un estudio en Boston desde 1898 hasta su matrimonio con Roy Barker en 1906.

Después de la maternidad, en 1929, reanudó su carrera en Maine, trabajando en Presque Isle.

Está enterrada en el cementerio Fairmount de esa ciudad ; su hija afirmó que literalmente murió "con un pincel en la mano".
